    Hi all,

They've decided to interview me at AUC! I'm very excited. My interview is in Times Square (I live in Western Mass). Has anyone had a chance to interview there? Any advice on whats in store?

    Hello,

I am preparing for my interview with AUC as well. I am assuming you have already interviewed with them. Could you give me some pointers as well as some questions that I can expect to be asked? Also if you don't mind, could you also share your stats so I know where I stand? I have a 3.24 gpa and 24 MCAT plus the other stuff (volunteering, shadowing, ECs, etc). I think AUC started interviewing recently. I didn't see a mention of an interview on the AUC website but found out about it once I spoke with my admissions adviser.

i didn't interview with him so I don't know. My interview was last Friday (Oct 17th). I will try to keep the interview in chronological order. In the beginning of the interview, I was asked what my family is like. You might think that it is such a vague question and the fact is that it is vague. The reason for the vagueness is to give you as much flexibility as possible on where you want to start your story and where you want to take it. So practice telling your family story and explaining your family dynamics. i was asked what each of my siblings are doing. From there I was asked how and when I became interested in medicine. For me, it was a personal sickness I experience when I was younger. Then I was asked why I want to be a doctor. Be sure to have a very good answer to this question. The obvious answer could be that you like to help people which is fine but there are many ways to help. (ie- social workers, lawyers, etc). So, why doctor and not something else- remember, good answer. Next, we spoke about my college career (ie- why did I chose my major, what extra-curriculars I was involved in, etc). There were also blemishes on my transcript and I had to give the background on those. Have a good answer for the flaws. I was even asked what I found to be the hardest part about the MCAT. Lastly, we spoke about my shadowing experience. I volunteered at a clinic as a medical screener so the natural question to ask was what I learned from shadowing that I applied to the clinical setting.

There were no tricky questions. No questions about the affordable care act, medicare, medicaid, HMO, Ebola, crazy hypothetical questions, etc. Pretty simple.
My advise is to re-read your personal statement and go over your entire application including your transcript so that things are fresh in your head.

That's all I have to share for now.

    Good Luck!

    PS

I was informed of my acceptance a week later (Oct 24th) so expect to get a response within a week or two.

    Hi!

Since I did my interview a very long time ago, I can't remember most of what they asked. They definitely started with "Tell me something about your background/family". They also pointed out that I had a few "bumps" in my undergrad journey (some low grades) and I was asked to talk about that. She also asked me to talk about my volunteer/work and research experience. Although my research was not related to medicine, I managed to say that I learned the value of research in general and want to implement it into my practice in the future (so make sure to conclude what you talk about and relate it to medicine..stay on topic!). A question that threw me off a little was "What is your greatest accomplishment". Well I had been talking extensively about a personal work related experience so decided to mention that as somehting I was proud of, but be confident while answering this. The last question I was asked what which other schools had I applied to and if they all accepted me (I already had acceptances while I was doing the interview) why is it AUC that I specifically wanted to go (MAKE SURE you read the AUC website and find out what makes the school different and appealing to you).

Hope that helped! Hope to see some of you this fall
    -J

Recently interviewed as well, how long was it until you all received acceptance or rejection letters? If accepted how long did they give you to decide? Thanks
