    In-Person Interview

    Advertisements

Hey everyone. I received an invitation from one of AUC's Associate Director's of Admissions for an in-person interview. I was hoping someone out there had some insight on what to expect when being interviewed by one of these individuals? Definitely looking forward to the opportunity this interview provides, but it seems a little out-of-the-ordinary from what I read online.

    Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the interview! AUC just started requiring in person interviews this year. I interviewed in July and it was really chill. I was asked some really basic questions...why doctor, why AUC? a few questions about my hobbies, family, undergraduate career, etc. It only took 25 minutes. Good luck!

    Hi,

So I too have an interview with AUC next week, is there anything you can tell me from your experience that would help me out?! What kind of things they asked?

    thanks!

I also just received a call about an interview. Were there any out of the box questions that weren't related to your application/ resume? The weird thing is I'm definitely sure they haven't received my letters of rec. Is it normal to request an interview when they haven't even received all of the necessary documentation for evaluating applicants?

I just had mine recently, and there weren't any out of the box questions at all. It was all very straightforward stuff that, if you've been the interview process before elsewhere, should be familiar. They asked me a lot of questions about my background, about my family, my education and work experience, what I thought was my greatest success and my greatest shortcoming. Also what specific goals I had for a career in medicine, why I was attracted to medicine, what can I bring to the field that makes you stand out as a candidate, etc. Like I said, pretty standard.

I was contacted a week ago and will be going for an in-person interview December 5th. The exact same thing happened with me. I spoke with the woman doing my interview and she told me that they would continue forward with the interview but a decision would not be reached on my application until all documentation was complete. So in short, yes, it seems to be standard proceedure.

Yeah I talked to admissions and they said the same thing. Good luck! Are you interviewing on the east coast by any chance? I missed the call for setting up an interview . I left a voicemail the same day, but havent gotten any word back in a few days... Hopefully they return my call soon.

    so here's a question

I have a very respectable beard going. I cannot decide what to do with it. I have an extraordinarily boyish face without facial hair... I look near about 15 even though I am 30 years old. Because of this I feel quite uncomfortable and a bit self concious when I do shave. I'm worried that I'd be distracted in the interview and not project nearly as much confidence as I have (yes I'm aware it's a bit neurotic, but pretending like it's not a big deal to me won't help) if I shaved before hand. I feel like a gotee would be a poor decision, so it's generally beard or not.

My uncle who is an MD said he'd go with the beard as it makes me look older and possibly more put together. However, my whole life I've always been told newly shaved is the go to look for an interview. Assuming my beard is very neatly trimmed and taken care of (it is), would I be ok sticking with it ?
