AUC '07 alumni visiting island for the first time since graduation.

    Advertisements

    Hello all.

I graduated AUC in 2007 but left the rock in 2005 for clinicals. i am currently an attending in EM at LSU New Orleans.

I will be visiting the rock for a little vacation on the 25-30 of this month.

First question i have is can yall put me in touch with anyone from student government or dean of students office, I would like to come by and visit the campus and I would be open to meeting with any of the students groups to answer any questions you have about life on the other side.

and the other question that i have is, what is there to do on the ROCK these days....I am sure it has changed since I left and i am looking for restaurant and nightlife suggestions from current students.

Is Lal's indian resturant still open, what current dive shop do most students use, are bamboo bernies, sunset beach bar and pinel island still open and most importantly is the PR still kicking. Looking for any advice and would love to meet and talk with some current students while there.

    looking forward to seeing yall.

Never argue with an idoit, people watching will have trouble tell you apart

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

I was just there for graduation. Bamboo Bernie's and Sunset are definitely still there and I am sure PR never went out of business, but considering I already have those parts, I'm not a huge goer of the PR.

But, I will let current students give you suggestions for nightlife, but I don't think it has changed dramatically.

As far as speaking at the school, go here: Beyond Medical Sciences | American University of the Caribbean and there is an email on the page and I'm sure they will help you to set up a speaking engagement.

I was also there for graduation. The biggest change that I encountered (even with only 2 years away) is that the food quality has decreased dramatically! Bliss and Tantra are still big, and there is a new place in Maho next to Sopranos Piano Bar called "Sky Bar" or "Sky Beach" which is pretty cool. I'd also recommend going to Palm Beach (near Orient).

As far as current students, VMD has been undergoing a very decreased usage by them as the school is actively utilizing FB to connect future with current students.

FYI at sunset beach bar there is a vending machine to buy SIM cards for your gsm world phone. No need to visit tel-cel or chippie woo hoo!
Same restaurants when I was recently there, boathouse, pineapple petes, etc. Ricks place closed down. Movie theatre still there and busy as ever. Front and back street are the same too. I emailed Dr Y and she replied for the school.

Have fun and enjoy, we did on our visit.

Wish I would have seen this before. Was so busy with blocks. Definitely would have been cool to meet you and get some advice. I'm a 4th semester here and am considering EM, would've loved to see your input on it.

Hope you enjoyed your trip back
