AUC is GREAT: The school cares about the students

    Advertisements

To make a change about the constant complaints about the Caribbean medical school, Iíll tell how much my school is great.
As a 1st semester, Iíve been at AUC for 4 weeks.I can tell that this school is fantastic. My initial plan was to attend SABA for the tuition, SGU for the quality of the installation or ROSS for I wanted to spent only 16 months on the island and I wanted to do all my rotations in New-Jersey. I never think going to AUC. I did apply to AUC mid-June 2012 for the September 2012 class.

Since the airport, Iíve been taking care of by the school. I felt well surrounded.

We had to be on the island on august 31st. We started the school activities on September 2nd. All the incoming class has 3 days of activity for integration on the island style. We had motivation activity. Study habits workshop etc. We met the administration and plenty refreshment were served. The first days were really superb and that help to create special links with the school. We were like a big family. At the end of those 3 days, the school organizes a visit of the island, question that we know where we live.

Then we started the class. The school faculty is veryhelpful and is as proactive as the administration is. The feeling is great. I fill that AUC cares about us. As a client paying so much per semester, my expectationsare high and the school meets them since the 1st day.

Itís easy to get in touch with the administration, the installation are clean and always up and running. About the class, the lecture halls are clean and adapted (projector, monitor etc). Our exams are organized by bloc on computer as the USMLE (all the subject the same day). We have a bloc exam every 3 week so we have to study regularly.Once we do the exam on computer, we have our scores the same day.

We have free coffee in the cafeteria all the time. The building is open 24hrs, the a/c is always working. On week end before our bloc exam, the cafeteria is open so we do not have to cook. They are plenty small things like that showing that AUC cares. The upper semester take good care of the incoming semester also, with the complicity of the administration , so we can integrate the school smoothly.

I really like that school because I am a client here and the school make me feel I am important. I really feel that I receive the service Ipay for.

For the quality of life on the island is close to US/Canada. Prices are similar to what they are in US. We are close to what we are used too.

    So far so good.

I haven't attended since Devry took over but I'm happy you're enjoying yourself.

I'm just curious... but what is your first language?

To AphtaLyfe: Yes I really like it a lot here. More than I have expected. My first language is French to answer your question.

To RFisher: So far so good. I must say I spent only 4weeks here and I was pretty busy studying since we had our fist bloc exam last Tuesday. In general what I depicted Is quite accurate.

To Craigslist: Yes the school is condensed. Not enough place in the library for all of us. Some lecture halls are at the limit of the capacity. Of course we wonít fit all in the cafeteria but the menu is very varied good and cheapÖ But we can study anywhere on the campus like lecture hall, library, cafeteria, common places. The library is open from 8h to 23h every day. The lectures halls, cafeteria and common places are accessible 24/7.

There is a problem of place like we have a small local for gym and thatís it. Some classes like ICM are not taught on campus for lack of space but there is a bus shuttle from the school.

However, there is a new building actually in construction that will help for the lack of place pretty soon. The founding is over, they are building the walls. We will have a new lecture hall around 400 places, 14 ICM/PBL classes offices etc.

Like I said, so far so good and Iím really happy to be here.

Yeah, ICM is in porto now. I'm a 4th semester and my experience has been very similar. AUC really does take care of their students.
