    Recommended Books (an unofficial list?)

    Advertisements

What are some books that you found absolutely essential? Just any that stand out in particular, whether it was on the book list or not.

I'm mad that I didn't check out McKinley's Human Anatomy until the final block, I don't want to make that mistake and miss out on some gems that are not on the list for second semester. Was BRS even on the 1st semester list? Histology books were a waste of money, I wish someone had told me.

So yeah, recommendations? I want to get an idea of what is actually required. I'd even appreciate recs for later semesters.

Look in the library for all your book needs and then purchase based off which "speaks to you".

3rd sem through 5th I just borrowed books from circulation instead of buying books.

Lippincotts biochem for Biochem may come in handy once you get to meet the professor.

Someone wrote about "McKinley's Human Anatomy" where do I find this one? Its not on the website that University Bookstore online. I've read mixed things about buying books - should I wait on purchasing them until I speak w/ the professor or just go ahead and buy them all now...

    My suggestions:

    1st semester:
    BRS anatomy
    Netters

    2nd semester:
    Lippincotts Biochem
BRS physio (the cases book wouldn't be bad either)

    3rd semster:
    Robbins
    Goljan RR
    *keep your BRS physio books

Obviously there are a ton of books you could get for each class..and I did...but in all reality those are the only ones I used even a little bit.

Also, I think histo, MCB1, med micro, and immuno class notes are sufficient to do well and have a good understanding of wth is going on. Also, crack open the kaplan books and get used to them for a different way to look at things. Also, it wouldn't be a bad move to get 2011 FA and annotate as you're going through if you can make some time for it.
