    AUC Full Physics requirements...

    Advertisements

I completed a part 1 physics 1st semester and am planning on finishing another physics during the summer...

does it matter what physics I take or do they just want a 1 full years worth of physics with a lab?

if you want to go to med school and sounds like you haven't taken the MCAT yet you should probably take courses geared toward that....usually it's something like:

    Physics I Mechanics and Sound
    Physics II Electricity and Light

both had labs when I took them....that is what you are going to get tested on for the MCAT. Avoid calculus based physics unless you get down like that

Oh I already took the MCAT and I was just wondering what kind of physics I could get away with. I took a part 1 calculus based physics last fall and am planning on taking the last physics this summer, BUT I have an abundance of choices... one of them is calculus based and the others are NOT. Does AUC care what the physics course content is or do they just want the full years worth of credit?

From the admissions requirements stated on the AUC website:

General Physics - One year of General Physics, including laboratory work. General introductory coursework should include mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity, and nuclear radiation.
Don't get caught up making your application to AUC more complicated than it has to be I'm pretty sure all they will do is see that you have a year of physics on your transcript, check the box, and continue on with your application.
