    AUC Releases Updated Insurance Info

    Advertisements

It looks like AUC actually listened to the concerns and complaints from the Student Body. They have released the following update on their new insurance policy.

The issue still exists, however, for those with private coverage. If you have the school's policy, plus your own, there is still a conflict. All AUC did was push back the time frame. As I stated before, I could care less about the bunk SXM law, I'll eat the requirement here. But back in Americaland, where real insurance exists, I wish to use that insurance, especially when it comes to my wife and I planning our 2nd child. I'm NOT using Bollinger for that.

That still doesn't keep the primary from denying. That's the whole point.

I can understand the policy of the island requiring students to have insurance that is guaranteed to be accepted at the local hospital, but I personally think it is silly to require those in clinicals to get Bollinger insurance.

I agree. I guess the only thing to do is make sure one's family is covered with good insurance & hope that you aren't faced with the hassle of having to make sure one of the companies pays for anything that happens to you.

But the private coverage may say the same thing. I used to be a dependent on a Tricare policy, and they are always the last payer by federal mandate. Nobody wants to pay first.

Did anyone else see that bit on the "anticipated independence of St. Maarten in mid-2010"?

    Implications?
