    Advertisements

    Hey Guys,
I'm sure it's been posted before, can you direct me to post/sticky/links
    for financial aid/loans for AUC
I believe only Ross and SGU get federal US loans right?
I'm not a US citzen, only a greencard holder, and hope you can provide links where I can find financial funding info for schools like AUC, SABA, etc.
    Thanks a lot

AUC does have federal loans, the same as Ross and SGU. Those are the only 3 that do though.

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Thanks guys, but this is not helpful! heh

If you are getting financial aid, maybe you can just list the places/companies/foundations/etc you're getting aid from, so I can look into getting my loans from there too.

    Thanks again.

Getting someone to finance your Federal loans is a piece of cake. As far as I know, just about any bank will be able to help you.

Private loans are the ones that are becoming scare. You'll notice if you're applying for a private loan through many banks that AUC is not on the list of approved schools, as many banks have halted lending to US students studying abroad. Sallie Mae and Citi are the only two that I can think of off the top of my head that I know still provide private loans to AUC students, and since they're credit-based, they can destroy you on interest rates. Depending on what your credit looks like, you might want to find a cosigner.

AUC told me that citibank is no longer lending to students... that the only option other than gradplus is Sallie Mae. ( I spoke to them last week after I got my financial aid package that included citibank) I'm looking into others but haven't found anything yet.

To my knowledge as of yesterday, this is not true according to G.M. at Financial Aid.

Given Citigroup's official trainwreck status, I guess I'm not surprised. SLM's Signature loans have probably gotten a lot more expensive over the last few months too. Gonna hurt

    Thanks a lot

I highly recommend you speak to the financial aid office at each institution.

If they can't/won't give you good guidance then I would strongly consider looking elsewhere.

Forums such as this can help of course, but ultimately you should expect your school to be a good resource.

I have no idea where people are getting loans these days but I understand that funds are harder to come by. I took out only federally backed loans to attend AUC and nothing else, no additional loans, so I don't have experience with them. I have heard some horror stories though, so be careful.

Since you are not a citizen I am sure there are some differences in funding available to you and how you go about getting it.
