Thread: background check?

I got a "letter of goodstanding" from my local police department. Basically, as long as you are good in Mayberry or whatever local community across America you too can get the "no convictions on file" letter of good standing.

It is easy on the form to enter AUC; however, I am not sure how strict it will be when it comes time to apply for a state medical license after residency or applying for a DEA number.

i never had any problems. I just need to know whom to write for background check since I am not located now in my regular state of residence. is it free? advice?thx

are you planning on heading back to your state of residence anytime soon?
you should just call the police dept. in your town/city; tell them you need a letter of good standing for med school. they'll prepare it for you in a day and you can go pick it up.

The cost depends on the local police, but it should not be very much. My police department charged me $1.50 to run the check and mail the letter to AUC. Definitely won't break the bank.

I would say that you should be sure that they mail the original document. MEAS made me re-do it because the police department sent a photocopy.

Mine cost me $30 for a background check.

i don't think you needed to do it on your own, since AUC does it for their own purposes.
just mail/fax the letter in after you get it from the station.

that's what i did..and it didn't cost me anything for the letter of good standing..

It's for immigration, not the school.

in San Diego County it's $45 (that was about 6 months ago). Total rip-off but you do what you gotta do...
