It's a little hard to decipher your post, just a cumulative GPA would have been nice. In any case, it seems that your grades are fairly low. Just based on your grades, you're below average. The MCAT is required though and that would make a big difference in your chances. If you do poorly on the MCAT, with your grades, you probably don't have much of a chance. If you do very well, you may.

Thanks for your reply, but there was no GPA system at my college I didn't go in the USA. I went to school in Canada and it worked differently. They have what is called a CRC and they compare you to all the students in your class and then compare you with other schools. So it's like a percentile system. Anyways thanks again.

Grad 10 years ago with Bach in Chemical Engr. from one of those ******* engr. schools that need 150+ credit to graduate. There had 2.9 overall GPA but did frosh year at another college with 3.7 GPA. Most classes were science (plus math, stats, engr. economic) except for 24 creds of humanities. Since I was on the chem side, had no bio except for biochemical engineering. Have not done MCAT but looking at sample tests, I would have to refresh on chem and physics stuff probably without much problem, bio would kill me I think. I could get nice LOR but who couldn't. I am vol. EMT, work full time sales (chem) and run my own business in the little free time I have left. Can someone out there give me a honest eval. Thanks.

Being a little older and an EMT will probably help. Your GPA is low though. It would be very good for you to get a good MCAT to balance out the GPA. It's probably going to be rough studying for the MCAT after being out of school for so long! Good luck!

I also didn't take college seriously the first year and a half or so and subsequently dropped out for 3 years. My GPA when I left was about a 1.6. When I came back though, I re-took the classes I had failed or got a D in and now my GPA is about a 3.3. So, you can still definitely bring up your GPA! If you take a little time, you should be able to get your GPA above a 2.8, which is below AUC's average. A 25 would be just slightly above the average, so you'd be close. Most important thing for you is probably to work on your GPA.

Also, I don't know why anyone would aim for a 25 on the MCAT!! You should be aiming for at least a 30! Granted a 25 will probably get you into AUC, all other things being ok, but it's still a pretty bad score.

I was wondering what my chances are of getting into AUC or other WHO Caribbean Medical Schools. I have a pretty low GPA 3.0 accumulative and 3.1 science but have a degree in Neurobiology at one of the top 3 schools in the US. I spent my first two years at a community college and transfered with a science GPA of 3.88. The last two years I have gotten a number of D's and C's which has brought my GPA down. I also have a year of volunteer work in a hospital, a year of research and spent 4 years in the US Army. I am just wondering if I should spend another year longer studying for the MCAT, taking additional classes to boost my GPA etc.. I know I could have gotten a fantastic GPA if I would have gone to a no-name college and did an easy major but with that low of a GPA, I don't know if they will take that into account. Any advice as soon as possible would be most appreciative!
