You have an outside shot, they generally like to see the MCAT a tad bit higher. I had a similar GPA and a 25 MCAT and got into Sept 2014 class

Congratulations on getting an interview and I believe that your circumstances are truly unique and could explain your numbers.
You certainly have a lot to talk about in your interview and I would say you have a decent chance at direct admit and if not MERP.
But you also could revamp your MCAT score and try to apply for DO in the states. They do grade replacement if you retook any classes.
If you want to become a CT surgeon, no school in the Caribbean is going to get you there. This one of those positions reserved for gunners in US medical schools.
And with a max score of 19 on the MCAT, I doubt you could blow the program directors with your STEP 1 score either.
Don't just rely on your background and your experiences to take you far in life. You are going to need to develop some of the best mind to become a doctor.

It was not a wise choice to take under the conditions but I was stubborn since I saved for so long just to be able to afford to take the exam. But again, thank you for your feedback.

My interview with AUC for the Sep 2014 class is April 29th in Los Angeles, CA. Any info is invaluable and appreciated.
This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I would imagine you are a borderline MERP candidate. I just can't imagine a scenario where admissions can overlook those stats. Frankly, I think it would be irresponsible of them to do so considering the attrition rate. This is the reason Bloomberg writes articles about us. For some reference, I was MERPed with a 28 MCAT and a terrible GPA from grades that were almost 10 years old (though my post-bacc science pre-reqs was ~3.2-3.3). I know some MERPers who had 30 MCATs (but also a few direct admits who were low 20s).

I don't mean this to come off as harsh, but I'm just playing devil's advocate here, and you really haven't proven anything at all academically which demonstrates you are prepared to handle the rigors of med school. I can assure you it is not any easier than O chem or studying for the MCAT. If I was your interviewer, I might also question some of your decision making. What were you thinking spending 3000 hours of your time volunteering when your grades and MCAT were that bad?

It does sound like, however, you have some interesting experiences and a story to tell. There is something to be said for that, and it will help you stand out from the cookie cutter 3.3/25 applicant. That's why I think they might give you a shot in MERP. I would jump at this opportunity if I were you before going to a school with lower admissions standards (especially if you want any prayer of becoming a CT surgeon..or any kind of surgeon for that matter). MERP will give you a chance to prove to yourself you can really handle the workload, and will also give you invaluable preparation for your time here. You can message me if you have any questions about it, and I'd be happy to share my experience.

    Best of luck

    Hi All

What are my chances of getting into the MD program?

Getting my bachelors in 4 weeks from a private liberal arts school
    MCAT: 37
    Science/pre-req GPA : 2.0 (I have also not taken O-chem II)
    Overall GPA: 2.544
I have one year of volunteering and shadowing experience with a local pathologist.
    Major: Biology
    4 or 5 extracurriculars.

I'm also 18, but judging by my low pre-reqs, I don't think my age will impress them. What are my chances?

    uGPA: 2.794
    pbGPA: 3.369

    cGPA: 2.970
    sGPA: 3.140

I'm taking the MCAT in a week. Averaging on Kaplan practice exams in the mid 20s... but AAMC practice (tried #7 last week) have been lower. Sigh. It's too late to change the date, if I do absolutely poorly, I plan on voiding my score and maybe retaking over the summer when I'm not in school AND working.

So with all that being said, realistically, what are my chances?

Any suggestions, comments, and/or help would be very much appreciated.
