    I need advice.
I have a 3.5 GPA (I expect it to go up a little more) and will graduate from BYU in April. However, I sucked the MCAT. I got a 20, with a 5 in verbal reasoning. Should I still apply for September 2010? Or are my chances shot until I retake the MCAT?

    Thanks!!!

When I was accepted, I believe the average MCAT was 23-24, now I think they have raised the bar a little bit.

I would go ahead and apply for January or May (smaller class size). AUC is usually pretty good about giving you a decision on admission in a reasonable amount of time.

If you don't get into AUC this time around, then spend the money to retake the MCAT.

    hey everyone,
i've got a 3.0 cumulative gpa, and 3.38 science gpa, graduating this may with a bachelors in biology. I've got 120 hours of volunteering with a teratogen clinic, 70 hours of volunteering in a pharmacy, 30 hours in a nursing home, as well as 100-ish hours of volunteering with other non healthcare organizations. I haven't taken the mcat yet, however based on what i've said above what would be my chances? Also what should i aim for in the mcat? Thanks!

No MCAT score = waste of time to even speculate on your chances. you should be aiming for a 30+

Your GPA is on the low side, but MCAT isn't bad. You probably have a decent shot for any semester, but better shot for jan or may.

So I just got called and was put on the waitlist. I have been reading this site for a while now and heard nothing about people being put on the waitlist. My stats were 3.63 CGPA, and 3.5 SGPA with a 21P MCAT.

I applied for the May 2010 slot. The person on the phone said they made their decision, putting me on the waitlist and would let me know in 2 weeks. Thats a little confusing to me because isn't a waiting list a long time thing that extends until the full application process is complete? It seems they "didn't" yet make a decision yet because they told me they would let me know in 2-3 weeks. Isn't a waiting list something that you are put on in case someone decides not to come to their school to cover for the extra spots? I also was wondering maybe its because I applied very early according to their website. I applied 9 months before the semester starts, when they recommended 4-5 months. Thanks for the responses!!!
