Is there a requirement that all pre-req classes have to be higher than a 2.0?? I have since improved in my gpa and studied my butt of for the mcats to pull a 27. I'm really scared any advice would be appreciated.....
    Did you retake those classes?

Hello. Undergrad gpa 3.114. sGPA 3.375. Haven't taken mcat yet. Side question, if I take advanced bio classes like anatomy and physiology, are those considered part of the science gpa? Thanks.

Yes, you can get in with a D. As long as it isn't in a pre req. If it is, you will need to retake that class.

But, with a D, you are going to need to have a better GPA/MCAT, and hopefully the D was a while ago.

what if the D was in physics 1 and you got an A- in physics 2 and your PS score on the MCAT was 10?

You still got a D in a required course, which does not count as passing. Since you didn't pass a required class, it likely won't matter what else you did. But, only MEAS knows for sure. In the past, they've definitely been more understanding than I would be.

    What should I do

My best friend was killed 2 weeks before my high school graduation and I was pretty depressed when I first started college, he was supposed to be my roommate. I was dismissed from school with 0.36 GPA and became homeless shortly after, it took months to get back on my feet. Once I got an apartment I enrolled at a CC but had to pay for my classes out of pocket so I had to work full time with many weeks of overtime. After I completed my A.A with 2.7 but my overall was still only a 2.21. I later transferred to a university where I currently sit at a 2.9 and a 2.4 overall. I can hopefully pull a 3.1 at my current university and bring my overall to a 2.5 or 2.6. I'm still having to work full time, now more than ever since my parents are having a hard time making their mortgage payment. I have to help out because I can't bear to see my entire family living under a bridge. My MCAT is 26. I considered a post-bac but I fear that a post-bac won't help my case because my financial problems are too depressing and that a post-bac would only be prolonging my suffering. Given my circumstance would I have a chance. I need to a attend a Caribbean school that offers federal loans as I probably won't qualify for private loans.

With a 2.6 estimated overall and 26 MCAT, I'd say the chance is somewhat low. The average MCAT may not make up for the poor GPA, particularly considering you don't have any history of doing well in any of the occasions that you attended school. It would be one thing if you did very poorly at first, but showed a strong upward trend, getting grades in the high 3's, but you're still getting GPA's in the 2's, which is not a good sign. Definitely apply widely, and to the less-competitive semesters. I am sure things are rough for you now, but they are probably just going to get harder in med school.
