    Auc Dorms

Has anyone or does know of someone that has stayed in the AUC dorms for all 5 semesters? Is it difficult to do that and would you recommend it?

People have done it, but don't count on it. You have to win the lottery at the end of the semester because incoming new classes get priority. Don't ask how many rooms are usually available at the end because we don't know.

Is staying in the dorms safer than renting in one of the complexes close to the campus? Given the recent posts about safety, it would help me to know this.

Probably, but you wouldn't be able to count on staying there past the first semester. I still don't feel like staying in any of the adjacent building is unsafe.

The AUC dorms are the nicest student apartments I have ever lived in. The problem is that there is a lottery system, so students have to move off campus so incoming class will have a place to stay. What I do not understand is that the rooms are spacious, so why the rooms are not shared? I think there are a lot of students who would like to pay 1/2 rent or (little over for utilities) and share a dorm room. I know I always like to save a buck or two and since I usually go home just to crash, it would be nice to have an inexpensive and safe apartment on campus to crash at night.

one thing that was always funny with the lottery......... they would kick some of my friends out of the dorms and they would have to secure a new place to live...... once they sign a contract with a new place....... advertising signs start popping up saying that there is now space in the dorms for the next semester.
