    Applying for AUA Spring 2018

Hey Guys I am applying for the Spring 2018 cycle and I was wondering were there any others like myself? I have already interviewed about a week ago. Just waiting to hear back from AUA.

Welcome guys/gal and congrats on your acceptance. Good luck on the upcoming semesters ahead. As mentioned before, try not to listen to all the negativity. Understand that if people before you could do it, you can too. If medical school was easy, everyone would become a doctor.

Hello Jeffhennesy50! Congrats on receiving an interview! During my interview I was asked the following questions:
Tell me about yourself, hobbies, when did you know you wanted to be a doctor, why AUA, did I apply to other programs, how would you tell a family that their love one has passed away, what does empathy mean to you, when you hear the word doctor what comes to mind (worded differently), what if you do get into medical whats next (worded differently) and study habits. If I think of any more I will let you know. My friend interviewed with AUA as well and he was asked questions about courses that he took and grades that he received in undergrad. I was not asked too much about my gpa or classes because I did pretty well in undergrad. Good luck to you!

I took the MCAT and I scored just ok on it. I was also nervous during this process so know that you are not alone. My interview lasted an hour and was very laid back. My interviewer was awesome and has been so helpful throughout this process. It took me two weeks to find out if I was accepted but if you do not hear from them in two weeks, this doesn't mean that you have not been accepted. It took others over 30 days to obtain their acceptance. I am not sure of how they calculate our gpa but just keep in mind that we are all different when it comes to our application. Even though you may feel that your gpa is not as competitive as you want it to be your letters of recommendation, volunteer hours, interview and other things will/can make up for it. What I like about AUA is that you are not just an MCAT score or GPA average...they look at you as a person (if that makes sense). Just study your interviewing skills, possible interview questions and be ready to answer any questions pertaining to you academic transcript and you should be good to go. I know that this is easier said than done but I have been where you are and wish someone had told me the same. Again good luck my friend!
