Any decently legit Stats on how many peopl passed COMP from last few classes in total

    Advertisements

I know we've been told the med5's that left I think SEP.2013 had about 50 people pass comp..
I don't know what their class size was.

And I heard like 15 people from the class that left Dec2013 passed COMP.

However, I think the people that failed have a year's time to still retake the COMP, so does anyone have any updates or any hard stats on how many people in total passed COMP from the recent few classes (and how big their class size was)?

This is extremely important/valuable stats for students to know.

I think the class that left sept 2013 is up to around 80 people that passed comp. It is definetely not over 100

50 people passed comp shelf (kaplan or NBME). A good chunk of the 50 students passed kaplan and those who chose to do NBME and passed it were very close in passing the kaplan comp. And all those who passed comp shelf passed STEP 1 with flying colors (scores between 227-259). Only one person failed. 80 people is the wrong number. students who did not even come close in passing Kaplan comp must have reported to the school that they have passed comp assuming that they will EVENTUALLY somehow pass NBME after infinite attempts.

class started off in Med 1 around 300-350 (unofficial). Then students left med 1 finding out the school isn't worth it. so that leaves around 250. Add some students coming in from manipal at med 3. So yeah 50 passed step 1.

NBME comp is much harder than Kaplan comp. This is true without doubt.

Also take into fact for the kaplan comp, atleast you are on the island while you have 3 shots. So incase you don't do well on the 1st attempt you can get guidance from TAs, faculty and other students who have passed it. Plus the material you learnt in basic sci is still fresh in your mind. Running away from kaplan comp and delaying NBME comp till after pre clinicals (which is another 3-4 months minimum after you leave the island) is a bad idea.
