    Good opthamologist or refractive surgeon?

    Advertisements

I am starting in September. I recently had the Visian ICL (implantable contact lens) surgery done on my eyes here in the US. I need an opthamologist, preferably one who is a refractive surgeon, to follow up with while I am in Antigua. Can anyone recommend someone there?

I checked the Visian website and there are no surgeons performing the procedure in Antigua, so the next best thing for me would be a good refractive surgeon who is at least familiar with the procedure.

I wouldn't expect finding anyone outside the US for that

The closest would probably be San Juan, PR.

Thanks for the replies. Are there at least a few good basic opthamologists there? If not, what about optometrists?

Your eyes are something you do not want to mess with. If you need to defer a semester to make sure you're okay, then do that.

When I was on the island we had to sponsor a child at an orphanage so she could have cataracts removed...I believe she was around 10 years old. There wasn't a doctor on the island who could perform the simple procedure of removing cataracts so I seriously doubt there is an opthamalogist I would trust in Antigua to care for something so specific as your situation.
