    Living on your own

    Advertisements

I lived with my family for 21 years and I'm going to be starting the natural sciences at AUA in Sept 2010. I'm going to be living by myself and going to be taking care of myself. Can anybody share their experience if they can relate to my situation and how they adapted to such a life-style change.

ive been in the same situation as you. i lived at home for 22 years and commuted to college. Its really not that bad as it seems. you can make friends easily and once a few days pass by you get into the swing of things. buying food, doing laundry is the easy stuff. i would say the studying is the hard part compared to adjusting to the island.

I lived 10 feet from the ocean for over a year and only lost power and water for about 1-2 weeks in total after a hurricane, so it's not too bad as long As your Pad has a generator

You'll do fine. Just don't let the freedom and distractions get to you. In other words, stay disciplined as most students got the initial freedom (living on your own) experience in college.
