Transfer to SGU, St.Matthews, or Saba??

    Advertisements

Since AUA accepts transfers into the school, can an AUA student transfer to St. Matthews, Saba, or SGU? I was looking at their schools on VMD and they don't seem to have a disaster with their clinical rotations. Anyone have any info about transfering to any of these schools? Will they accept AUA's credits post step 1?

no, those schools in particular will not accept your transfer credits.

    Hey!

I'm not sure about the schools you listed. I would look into MUA though. There clinical program is pretty good from what I hear. The few issues the students have had there is being really picky with what rotations they want. I have a cousin that went there a few years back and they even let him start his clinical rotations before his step 1 scores were out. I'm thinking that I am going to look into this in the next week or so because I don't think my situation will change at AUA. Also I'm not just concerned about getting my first rotation, I'm also worried about the time inbetween now.

I am going to call around tommorow morning and figure this all out. I can't loose $40,000 because I missed my match date. Thats probably more than mr woodward makes a year so it's huge.

    Hey!

I'm not sure how you got the 40 000 estimate. I would think it would be way more because technically aren't you losing your last years wages???? Which is substantially higher than what you make in residency. If you start a year later than you expected you lose a year of what you would be making when you retire. I guess you could always work a year longer.

Or am I missing the point here? Which by the way happens a lot.

On a side not I would like to say that I believe that AUA is doing everything they can. Not because they love me but because its in their interest as well. My frustration comes from the lack of insight and the mistakes that were made to this point which i believe were avoidable. I don't think we can blame one person without knowing the facts here.

Poor you. If you're going to complain about the clinical situation, I think there are more constructive approaches. Find your own clinicals. As far as I know, AUA will sign off on any core or elective done at a hospital outside the current affiliations. Try looking into it. Continue contacting your coordinator. I have been in rotations for over a year with 1 week off in between. I know the situation is may be different now, but instead of crying on vmd, and talking in a demeaning tone to others, try doing something for yourself. Transferring may not look very good to residencies. If you really wanted an easy road, you should've gone to school in the US.

Oh, and it's "lose", 99 guy

I don't think you need to worry about Mr. W. He's ok.

although i think 99 is b*tching to the point of immaturity, i do agree that the situation is ridiculous and the AUA management deserves to get crapped on for it.. especially considering about the warning they were given a year ago about this very situation.

continental, the situation is a lot different than when you went through it.

its very difficult to go find hospitals that'll allow you to do rotations there without atleast completing internal med. unfortunately the wait time for your first rotation here is roughly 5 months.
