    Advice needed: AUA or MUA

    Advertisements

    Hi all,
I just got accepted to MUA for Sept 2009 and have an interview lined up for AUA. But even after reading through the forums for hours, I'm still having a really hard time determining which school would be better overall. They have the same approvals and I have no idea what the USMLE pass rate differences are...MUA has approval for OSAP and I don't know about AUA...So can I get some opinions as to which school you think is better and why?

Toss a coin and pick one. Other than that, I guess Antigua is a much better place to live than Nevis.

I was in the same position. It's all about personal preference. If you have no preference throw a dart at the map.

The two are very comparable. The loan and clinical situations at both schools seem to have as much stability as I do...at the bar...after finals.

I'm going with AUA for three reasons: (1) 5 semester sites back in the U.S., (2) applied for Cali, and (3) the demonstration of testicular fortitude by the school (see AUA vs. Arkansas State Medical Board).

    Then again, MUA is cheaper...

Both are actually quite difficult schools that will dismiss you if you don't pass. Almost all of these former students are at Windsor. If you are a good student you will make it at either. Honestly, if I were you though, I would just come to Windsor. A lot less costly and also a lot less of a hassle. Good luck.

I have read that AUA has applied for Cali and are awaiting a visit. Has that happened yet? If so what are the recommendations?. I am also told that MUA has applied for Cali too and have already been visited by Cali and have now to complete the recommendations to obtain Cali approval. Does anyone the progress made by these schools to obtain Cali approval?

In that particular hypothetical situation, yes you would probably be able to get a California license.

nobody will know the answer that question.

you've asked about Cali a few times, it's a long process...if you are that concerned about practicing in Cali, go to a school that's a approved there.
