    Getting frustrated because of overachievers

    Advertisements

I was just looking through some of the "chances" threads for different schools and I'm getting sick of some of these overachievers asking there chances. You know the people with 3.6+ and 27+ on their mcats, panicking on whether or not they are going to get in "do I have a chance or is it over for me." Go to US allopathic or osteopathic with those credentials. They'll most likely get in somewhere with the exception of a felony or something along those lines. Stop taking up spots in Caribbean schools that other people with less than stellar credentials (like myself) need. Just thought I'd have a mild rant on this, any thoughts?

    Heres an example I found:

"I just got accepted to May '09
-3.73 cumul. GPA; 4.0 dept GPA (B.A. math)
    -4.0 GPA (M.S. math)
-4.0 GPA (postbacc premedical program) because my undergrad grades are super old!"

It's not only the gunner mentality, its just ridiculous that these people with 3.6+ GPAs aren't trying to get into a US school. Why would you come to a carib school unless you refuse to take the MCAT or your GPA is from a community college.

What if they want to come to the Carib to enjoy da beaches maaaan? Or they don't want to be a D.O. but got rejected from an Allopathic school? This thread is funny.

because even with 3.6 gpa + 27+ mcats, there is no guarantee you're getting into a US med school. i have a friend with a 3.6/36mcats/1 yr volunteer in haiti...he's tried for 3 yrs straight....2 yrs he taught for kaplan mcat...

    he's going to SGU...

the problem is...there are a ton of highly competitive applicants...although to you it seems that these are stellar stats...there are still too many competitive applicants for the number of seats...

ya know i always found it ironic that in my class it was always the people that boasted their high success in undergrad/mcats that ended up failing courses. hmmm.

    nonetheless..
