    Research Day

    Advertisements

Okay so the school held a research day with two guys speaking from Mayo clinic today. Dont' know how it went though cause guess what....I couldn't even get into the room the people were jam packed. There were people standing by the door all the way to the back of the room. I was so pissed when I pushed my way through, trying not to make any noise to disturb anyone or the presentation and couldn't even find standing room. Seriously the school didn't know that so many people were coming? It was mandatory for us. After standing outside the building trying to listen to the lecture I decided to go home. Next time someone want to count the number of people coming and set up something proper????

By 9:20 they had all the rows pushed together and brought in loads of chairs. I think all that stayed got a seat. At half-time there were sandwiches and cookies BONUS!

No they didnt bring enough chairs because I had friends there that were standing the entire time up to the end of the first presentation and then met up with me for lunch at the Beach after 1 hour of torture. Plus I left around 945 after the Caribbean sun finally got to me outside. Nothing like being in dress cloths and no AC in a tropical country.

Next time they shouldn't make something mandatory if they can not accomodate. It was not fair for us and some of us missed out on a rare opportunity.

Ask the ACLS teachers that were also standing in the back ....

You go to AUA. Wait til you get to your rotations and wonder "why don't they just get more clinical spots." Chairs at "research day" is the least of all of our worries.

Wow, I'm sorry you missed out. Did you at least get to sign in?

Unfortunately, I did not get to sign in. There was no one checking and I heard it was just an attendance sheet being passed around afterwards. I should have stayed and signed it, but i couldn't stand being in the heat. Should have waited in the student lounge...but that seemed like a big waste of time with two exams on Wednesday. I wasn't the only one though. There were a few other people in our class that left as well.

there was plenty of room after the first speech because many people left. you should have hung around, got a seat and enjoyed the research. it was actually really informative and interesting.
