well current med 4...but some individuals in our class had a conversation with Dr.G about comp last week and to answer your question he said that once you pass that you will be allowed to sit for Step 1 after you successfully finished 5th semester...he specifically said he is charge of the comp rule and that their is an error floating around in the current handbook since it says something else right now

the passing mark for you class was a 58, but the passing mark this semester is 60....however, in regard for your current med 5 class, everyone with a score above 58 from last Dec will be allowed to sit for Step 1 as soon as the finish 5th semester after completing the required paperwork....i believe u r required to sit for the exam twice during med 5 but u dont have to pass it again due to the grandfather clause......

i suggest emailing Dr.G directly about this...and just remember we go to AUA

    hope that helps....back to pharm

I finished 5th in Dec. We only needed to pass it once, however you should definitely aim higher than AUA's pass of 58 (or 60 now?) because 64 is equivalent to the first passing grade on the step 1. So keep studying throughout 5th and good luck!!!

I guess I should be used to that by now. RANT OFF.
Sorry, I meant that to everyone, not at you specifically. I don't agree with them just up and changing the rules though...I never do!

There are better ways to evaluate your progress. I'd much rather put in my money towards one or two NBME exams which more accurately predict your step score. The questions for the comprehensive are too old and there's always a chance that we'll be taking the same exact exam as last semester's.

I too am fed up with the school's Bull. If they change any rules, it should not be applied to the current class-that just not fair.

If I passed already, why should I pay again to take it once more? This does not make any sense. Do they think I might have forgotten information?? Heck if anything I learned double compared to when I was on the island.
