    Decrease in Loan?

    Advertisements

I heard all these rumors flying around about a budget change in order to keep ed-invest. The main change I heard was that housing finances are based on double occupancy now instead of single. So basically, Im wondering if anyway has heard anything about the total loan amount appliable for next semester has been affected at all?

Yeh I spoke to CH. She said you will get the amount for double rooms, based on which group you live in. The rest has to come out of pocket. I donít understand how the funds are broken down. Do you get the full amount to your account or does it go to the school, housing and then you get the balance?

So the extra cost for a single bedroom, is not really an extra out of pocket cost...you can just use the "remainder" for the additional cost right?

Yes..you can..And as for "is the remainder enough" question..all i can say is it's a matter of personal preference. I make do just fine. Of course, I have no problem eating PB&J for many meals..it's not that i'm going hungry or anything..i just look at that every 1$ i save here..is about 12$ i'll save in the long run..maybe more..

to keep this thread on topic, I was informed that coming next sem, the total amount in loans a student can recieve will be less. expect around 15-16 k depending on your sems (for eg: basic science students might get less than students who live in new york for clinical sems due to geographical locations).
