In NY we did HIPAA during orientation. Also, if you are going to the NY site do NOT waste money on a drug test like ALL of us did! They drug test you the first day and do not accept any outside results. Also, the insurance we get through AUA covered my HIV blood test so I didn't do the training. I THINK DocP did the training though so maybe he can let you know. Also, you need to get titers for Hep B, MMR, and tetnus (can't remember if there are anymore. Again, the AUA insurance covered this test)

I'll be heading to NY for 5th sem in Jan. 2009. What's the housing situation like? I think I'd really like to stay at the housing that's right by the hospital...I think that it's through RUMC. Do you have any information on how I could go about getting that? If not, where are some good places to live at in Staten Island? Thanks.

The RUMC housing is cheap but very run down and slow to fix things. The advantage is you are next door to the hospital and restaurants within walking distance. Where I am staying is pretty nice but twice as much as RUMC housing. It's called Seaview Estates. Its very hard to find housing that will do a short term lease. I was able to do a 4 month lease but it did cost more than a year lease. Call AUA in NY and they will give you the name and number of who you need to contact.
