    Fa

We can argue all day on this forum on what makes AUA a great school - a competent FA office beats any other reason! and right now AUA does not have that so stop all the **.

I have spoken to CD, LP in the FA office for ages and they continue to tell me that they are waiting for a piece of paper I have to sign before my loans are disbursed. Now since when does getting a piece of paper takes months?

My advice for anyone who can - do not come to AUA esp. if you rely on FA for your living expenses. Its just not worth it!

Starving is real to me and I place the blame squarely on AUA and its incompetent and apathetic FA office.

What piece of paper are you having to wait for? When you apply for your loan, you sign all the necessary forms..When your loan is dispersed, you merely have to pickup the check. You don't even sign anything when you get your check. If you turn in your loan paperwork BEFORE the end of the previous semester, your refund check will be waiting for you when you register.

AUA is not bad at all. I'm waiting for the promissory note too and everyone on the appeals committee in FA has been great and really helpful. They have given me an advance to help me out till the paperwork comes in. If you haven't gotten an advance yet i would call LP & CD and ask them for one to hold you over. I did my appeal in Sept and got 2 since. Did you talk to Dr. B or Dr. S since your in med 4?

    Hi Med4,
When it comes to clinicals how do you receive your refund check because I know you dont just drive up to the office. Is it by direct deposit. I know mailing it might be difficult if you go to different sites for each rotation.

In regards to the Fin Aid depart I have to say some people are helpful and some people are just plan rude. In regards to the appeals process I know some people who went through the appeal and they informed me every step of the way that it was not that great.

Fin Aid over all is okay not great and not completely terrible

No it's not great at all! I was told that we have to be patient because it is an appeal process. The lady said it's like disputing a credit error with the credit bureau it can take 30-60 days. So i guess the best thing to do is to make sure you keep your credit in good standing so you don't go thru this. I did the credit counseling. I was so upset when I found out I had some credit fraud on my acct! But they are working with me.

To keep me on top of my credit score I enrolled in this program: Citi(R) IdentityMonitor(R) | Credit Monitoring and Monitoring of Identity Theft

Basically, anytime anyone so much as breathed near my credit report, I was notified via e-mail. You also have the ability to get an updated score every month without being penalized.

One of my friends who went thru the appeal process told me that Fin Aid told them it would take only a few days for the appeal. Based on there decision she was going to stay for the semester or withdrawal for the semester. It took more than a month and they started working on her case 15 days after she submitted it. They lied to her and told her they were working on it. She is some how making thru the semester but the appeals process was a nightmare for her and I do not ever want to go thru the same thing.

Well the advice I received was we are working on it but make sure you have a back up plan. I grew up on the A-Team and they always had a back up plan. LOL just a lil humor for a touchy subject. Good news though I got in my AUA Note and I'm happy go lucky now. I think I'll treat myself to some food now lol.
