.................
I recently got accepted to both AUA and ROSS and now I have the difficult decision of deciding which one I will be attending in September. I know they are both good schools and m having trouble deciding which one to attend. I know a doctor who went to ross who is doing fantastic in his career, but then again he went there awhile back, 80's probably. Any advice on which you think is the best?

dominica sucks as an island...just ask thrifty, she'll tell you
M.D.
...U Will have 50 states,Federal Aid too and AUA also pares down a lot of students, check Windsor where half of ex-AUA students have transferred to after being flunked.
Ross is a no brainer UF24............this is ofcourse my personal opinion....

I am in a serious relationship....with med school.This semester I am sleeping with Physiology.......books
Ross (for the afore mentioned reasons, being FA and 50 states, only)...but, damn, AUA is a close second!
Despite my 2c worth, I think IrishDoc had said it the best...

Depends on your career goals. AUA is certainly up an coming, but Ross gives you more options in terms of licencing.
Ross: Dominica sucks, clinical situation is tight at Ross, only one option for 5th semester, and if you fail once class you have to repeat the entire semester.
AUA: Antigua is probably more bearable, I believe they have multiple 5th semester options, flexible scheduling, clinical don't seem as bad.
Given these factors AUA, without a doubt. You should apply to AUC, SABA, and SGU (these three I would attend before Ross).
i think it's a no-brainer. you should definitely go to Ross i'm a med 4 at AUA now, on my way to 5th in a couple of weeks, so you can be assured that my opinion isn't biased.
ross has government loans...aua's loan situation is at flux at best.
ross is an established school, AUA is 4 years old.
granted it might be crappy to live in dominica for 16 months, but keep in mind you're in the caribbean to study, not enjoy. AUA is a good school, but there are a LOT of distractions in antigua. the library sucks here...at times, it's pretty difficult to get a good amount of studying done. everything is so much more expensive in antigua than it is in dominica. you'll also have to rent a car in antigua. that can be a good 1500-2000 dollars per semester, depending on where you rent. loans don't pay for that.
with regards to ross' rules for failing a class: yes, you have to repeat the whole semester if you fail a class. however...their passing scores are 60%, which is totally doable. if you can't get 60% in each of your classes, i think you should have to repeat the classes (no disrespect to our transfers from Ross).
lastly, Ross graduates can practice anywhere in the US. AUA is still working on approvals. I think this is a no-brainer. that's just me though.
good luck with whatever decision you make. hard work either way!
Quite a pickle you're in UFGator....like the other people said...Do you want to worry about financial aid and not worry about clinicals by going to AUA? Or do you want to worry about clinicals and not worry about financial aid at Ross? But what the other people didn't say is it's not a no brainer...It's a pretty big decision that needs thought.
And one more thing, yes Ross has accreditation in all 50, but in which state do YOU want to set up shop in...because AUA just might be able to provide that as well as Ross.
Not being able to practice in 50 states is a Huge deal. The worst story I've heard in a while was about a great young doc with rockstar USMLE's who was accepted into an Optho residency in a state where his school wasn't accepted for a license. He lost the spot and had to do a different residency (which he loves, but thats beside the point)
ps. I go to SGU and I've never posted on this board, but since I have a friend who just decided to go to AUA, I thought I would check the forum out. One quick question, how big is the class size? I saw last years match stats on the school website were for 5 people, and this years were for 19? Is that the size of the class? Wow
