    AUA or ROSS???

I recently got accepted to both AUA and ROSS and now I have the difficult decision of deciding which one I will be attending in September. I know they are both good schools and m having trouble deciding which one to attend. I know a doctor who went to ross who is doing fantastic in his career, but then again he went there awhile back, 80's probably. Any advice on which you think is the best?

I believe NY approval is good for extended clinical rotations and residency within the state of NY. Although it is possible that the NY medical board and many other states may adopt the cali list, I don't see it as being very probable atleast in the short term. NY is kinda like it's own powerhouse in the US when it comes to accreditation so I don't see them taking on CA list anytime soon but who knows. These med boards change their minds at the flip of a switch.

Hi Tipton, so you're saying that even the US grads have difficulty so then carribean grads would have even more difficulty right? I read somewhere that the Canadian residency matching program (cARMS) gives a match for like 1 out of every 10 IMG's, is that not true then?

and back to the original post's topic, then is there a difference between AUA and ROSS for Canadian students who want to return to Canada to practice? (in terms of the difficulty of this path, and the length of the path)

    Thanks

Please read this carefully my friend. DO NOT go to AUA! I would highly recommend going to ROSS. I have NEVER in my entire academic life seen such unprofessionalism, specially from the administration. The first thing you will notice (if not already), is the lack of cooperation from the school's administration. They are rude, lazy and completely incompetent and incapable of dealing with anything in a timely fashion.

In terms of housing department...ummm...good luck with them if you have any problems with your housing. Please do yourself a favor, go to Ross. They at least have a good reputation, california approved and you are guaranteed clinical spots, unlike AUA. I can tell you that HUNDREDS of people have dropped out of the school after the first semester. What does that tell you?

I don't goto AUA but I can also tell you that Ross has 'HUNDREDS' of people drop out first semester too. What are you trying to prove? This is the Caribbean, you're getting a second chance at MD school so quit crying about it.

People drop out regardless of where you go, true. But, I would chose Ross in a heartbeat over AUA for so many reasons. And, lots of people from ross who come to AUA hate it, and think the education is far less credible than at ross. AUA is a relatively new school, with countless problems.

For the record, I'm not crying about it, i'm stating facts trying to help someone make a wise decision and avoid the mistake that so many do by coming to AUA. Like you said, it is the Caribbean giving students a second chance, so don't screw it up by going to a retarded school. Make a wise decision, go to a DECENT and LEGIT school.

No one in their right mind would choose AUA over ROSS, SGU, AUC or SABA!

Aside from the loan issues - many lenders opted out from giving AUA loans, extremely high interest rate and the school has numerous other issues. AUA has been banned by NBME due to extensive cheating. The school provost threatened to quit. I understand cheating happens everywhere but no where close to AUA. To make things worse profs and deans were recently busted for sleeping with students and leaking out exams. On top of it a kaplan comp shelf exam was leaked. Clinicals are a headache and a hassle. The step 2 comp shelf score has been raised to a 72 - which means students in clinicals now cannot write step 2 without getting a 72 on the clinical step 2 comp shelf.

    Choose Ross.
