There is a microwave and tv in the living room at utopia. I just had a ceiling fan installed in the bedrooms and living room today. (They're working their way through utopia, should be done by next week). Utopia is about 5-10 min (by car) from north campus, west campus, and downtown. (truly it is). I've walked from west campus back to utopia in about 30 minutes or so. As for the beach, jabberwock (which is right next to north campus) is also about 10 min away.
Someone also spoke how there is a pig farm that smells next to utopia. The smell has gotten significantly less in the past 2 months..i dont think the pigs are there anymore, or if they are, they're moved quite a bit. Ive seen bulldozers there so i'm guessing they're developing the land (building on it). Utopia is pretty modern compared to other housing, etc. Our electric bills aren't nearly as bad as trafalgar (they get 2000 ec bills/month) and there are now 2 grocery stores within walking distance. Epicurean (the big grocery store) is about a 7 min ride by car. Bad points, yes, the walls are a bit thin, but unless you're yelling or something, it's not like you hear your neighboors much. It's right in the landing pattern for the airport, so all planes pass pretty much right overhead. Good news is that the airport doesn't have any redeye flights, so after 830 or so, you dont hear anymore planes. You do hear cars going by (and you'll find that there are some antiguans who love their 4 cylinder import cars..rev the engine to 8000rpm doing 38mph at 10pm) But the building is new, my room is nice (i have a window in each bedroom and 3 in the living room) but that's because i'm on the corner. Others dont have windows in their bedrooms. Mandalay is definately the best but you do pay more/month for that luxury. I'm not a fan of trafalgar since it's pretty far out there (which can be a good thing, but not for me), the higher utility bills, etc, but some love it. It's all about what kinda enviornment you want to be in. Sugar mill wasn't offered this year, (but it was in the past apparently) and now is rejoining the aua ranks next semester. Ive only driven by amor, so i can't tell you anything about it. Hope it helps!

Whoa, whoa whoa, LOL! Who had a $2000 e.c.? The largest our bill has been is $603 E.C. which is $112 U.S. per person for 2 people. Given, we have a fan in the living room, one in my bedroom, we keep the front door open all day, so we can get the free internet signal, and we keep our patio door open during the daytime only (at night the rats come out).

we payed 1100EC this past month at amor villa 111, that is about 411 US dollars. The price of electricity here is rising and there is not much that we can do about it.

I think the electricity is something that can be more contained when you move into independent housing. I know people that live in Marble suites say the electricity bill is like $100 EC. But for school housing, you just gotta utilize better resources, like leaving the patio door open for a breeze or buy a fan for like $60 E.C. I will say it was better when I stayed in Anchorage in terms of utilities because they were included. And I could turn my air condition on anytime I wanted to for as long as I wanted. The air condition at Anchorage gets a lot cooler than here at trafalgar.
