    AIMU in Saint Lucia

This school has IMED approval but I have never heard of it. Apparently they are new with a first class in 2007. Does anyone have any specific information?

The ECFMG does not certify schools. The IMED lists schools of which graduates may be eligible for ECFMG certification.

AIM-U is not listed on the California approved medical schools list, hence graduates are not currently eligible to practice in California.

The list can be found at Welcome to the Medical Board of California - Medical Schools Recognized by the Medical Board of California .

Consult your state's medical board as to whether your prospective school is acceptable.

Thanks for that link, I checked it out and it states

"Note: Students from some recognized international medical schools may have deficiencies in their training and will not meet the requirements for licensure in California. Any training deficiencies will require remedial training prior to licensure in California."

so how long is this "remedial training" and is it worth it?

another thing I don't understand, how can a doctor that works in a state next to california not be eligible to work one state over -_-" its ridiculous.

Please note that this pertains to schools that are already on the California approved medical schools list.

For example, Filipino medical schools require only 52 weeks of clinical rotations to graduate. However, the California medical board requires 72 weeks. Hence, even if his/her medical school is on the California approved medical school list, a graduate of a Filipino medical school will need to compensate for this deficiency before becoming eligible to apply for a California medical license (possibly by postponing graduation and doing extra rotations while still in medical school, or picking up extra time in residency).

    hey fellas,
i think most of the thing mention by ppl abt this college is wrong..letme provide u abt some info abt this college...
1.This is THE ONLY UNIVERSITY in the st lucia, who got permit to allow his student to do clinical rotation in st lucia govt hospital.(let me tell u the other university which is there in st lucia since ages has still not got the permit.... ).
2.It has all the required accreditation.
3.And even now it got listed in MCI also.I m the one who cleared MCI and got my licence with this university and without any problem.
If anyone want to know any detail abt this university... feel free to ask..
