Exclamation The Importance Of WHO Approval!!!

This School seems EXTREMELY fishy to me. It is not approved by WHO...uhh cmon even Saint James is approved by WHO...whats up with this school not being approved by WHO??? How long does it take for a WHO document to be approved by it. If I'm correct Xavier has been opened for 3 years. It really takes that long to be approved by WHO??? Good Schools like AUA and SMU are WHO approved...And they are fairly new..maybe even newer than Xavier...I know AUA is for sure...
And then I don't understand why any school will not tell who owns the school??? Why can't you just say who the president of the school is??? VERY VERY FISHY...Guys just be careful before applying to a medical school...do your research PLEASE!!!
PLEASE READ THESE THREADS!!!

IMED-FAIMER isn't the only one that US uses now. It doesn't change the fact that it isn't approved by WHO...

From http://www.who.int/hrh/wdms/en/

Readers are reminded that WHO has no authority to grant any form of recognition or accreditation to schools of medicine or other training institutions. Such a procedure remains the exclusive prerogative of the national government concerned. WHO limits itself to publishing information on medical schools that has been provided or confirmed by the governments of its Member States.

Note the last update was June 30, 2004.

Hope this helps.

Sorry you are wrong.
WHO does not list anymore, they have stopped listing schools so the list is not going to be updated anymore.

IMED is the new list, FAMIER ECMFG is the 3 you need for US and USLME.

On the other hand charter is an issue if listed with one country of charter and not chartered by that country any more then a new listing or update needs to occur.

Cheers.

Please refer to the first Post in this thread to know that the President of XUSOM has not changed since the opening of XUSOM Bonaire. (edu.XUSOM.nl) (I don't remember anyone asking for the name of the President.....) He and a combination of others still own XUSOM.

You are right, I asked for the names of the owners to be mailed to deanhughson@gmail.com didn't ask about the president.

To quote W.H.O., in the 7th edition of the World Directory of Medical Schools, 2000,

"The World Health Organization has no authority to grant any form of recognition or accreditation to schools for the training of health personnel. Such a procedure remains the exclusive prerogative of the national government concerned. Consequently, no institution listed in this Directory is recognized or accredited by, or its training programme endorsed by, the World Health Organization. The lists of names and addresses were compiled from data received from, or confirmed by, Member States. "

OK then, so we have explained multiple times that the WHO letter was signed off by the Aruban Govt. If this makes it easier, so be it. We do not believe that WHO listing is the "end all, be all" and you already know we worked on and recieved the IMED listing first because of it's weight. WHO does not "accredit", understood, but it does "give credit" in the sense that WHO is in most cases the only listing anyone who knows generalized information has heard of.
If someone wants to say that the WHO is not updated anymore, once again this is fine, because once again all documentation has been signed by the Aruban Govt. All student inquiries and applicants are told of our WHO status, though many do not care because of the state they wish to practice in.

What purpose is this for? Why does everyone ignor the fact that THE WHO LIST IS DEAD. IMED is the new list and will be updated.
please make a note of this and stop quoting a useless list now.
cheers.
