Second thoughts on going to XUSOM

I just got accepted into Xavier Aruba campus, and I am having second thoughts after hearing many opionions from lots of people. Some say its a low ranked school and it is really new so it could be risky such as the school closing, etc. Is this school recognized in most of the US and Canada and is it who listed? Anyone know which campus would be better - Aruba, Panama or Bonaire? Also, I heard things are 50% more than prices in the US. The cost of things, low rankings (opinions of people) and this school not having dormatories is making me have second thoughts. Does anyone have any opinions on whether I should accept the offer or apply to Windsor Medical School? Please let me know I have a deadline to deposit the fee. Thanks.

my 2cents

I do not know much about this school. If you can get into a school accepted by all 50 states this would be better for you in the future. If you cannot get into one of these schools, try for a school at least accepted by New York.

Anyone else?

Anyone else know anything? Should I accept or apply to a different medical school? Is this school WHO listed? and what states will I be able to practice in after graduating? Where do I find this info from?

Hey man if ur having second thoughts dont go, find a better school if you feel that is beneficial for you. Xavier is fairly new, its not bad but its not that great either, but then again its just like anyother carib school. As for canada, its very tough to go back to canada no matter what carib school you decide to go to. Keep that in mind.

Just read this forum, I would say apply to the top 3 (SGU, Saba, AUC). Personally I am going to St. matthews starting this fall, its upto you to whereever you choose to go..definetely be sure because its LOTS of money and hardwork.

Why do people ask which school is better? If we are in Aruba going to Xavier, how are we going to know how Windsor is? The most we can do is guess, based on what we read in forums and the website. Read through xavier's forum and read through windsor's forum.

Sorry Future_Student

I have been on this valuemd a while now and I do not know anything about Xavier but just that its at the bottom of the website under Caribbean Medical Schools because it begains with X.

Why not apply to othe schools like SGU, AUC, Ross, S. Matthew? [need MCAT]
If you don't want to take MCAT then try Sint Eustatius, AUA, SABA, MUA.

Would you marry someone, with whom you only chatted on the yahoo messenger?

Probably no! And the reasons would be
1)Dont know the person is a Man or a Woman....
2)Dont know if the person is old or young....
3)Dont know if the person is a criminal or not

etc etc etc.....

Now would you go to a Med School without researching?
Now would you go to a Med School based on ONLY inputs on a internet forum from strangers?
Now would you go to a Med School which you have not VISITED?

If you do, you will win the EXTREME CHAMPION RISK TAKER award of the millenium!

Your post betrays your lack of research , on a medical school where you will spending tons of money & years of your time.

Take a flight, see the school, talk to its students, its faculty, its administration, the locals(can be a huge source of pain and strength) face to face.....Good Luck!
Dont trust nobody with your future!!Nobody!!
