Jan 2008 Housing
My friend is a new student starting in Jan and would love some ideas on which areas places in Aruba I can expect to find safe housing for a single male. His budget is 500-600 dollars and close to school. Any ideas on location, contacts and prices would be much appreciated.
Also, the school's contact for housing how reliable and trustworthy is it??? BIG |

You're not getting a lot of replies on this thread are you? I too am looking for housing for January and haven't heard anything from the school officials yet at this point. A number of people have said that school housing is much more expensive. For me it's moreso location, location, location. The last thing I need is to be lost somewhere on a tropical island, no motor car and not a single luxury trying to piece together Dutch in a harried attempt to find the school before class starts.

you need to stop assuming.. the island is pretty americanized. Most of the local can speak a little english. I might be entering in january too. i am working on a transfer to the school.
The island is quite nice. Depending on where you are. I've been through the worst part of the island and to the best part. either way, the island is better than most of the island that the other school are on. I personally prefer a more underdevelop island because of the coconut and the fruits that the island has to offer. but chances are I will end up in aruba since it is closer (similar) to home (america). and xavier is a decent school |

When I find out anything, I'll share it with the rest of the forum here. It's funny how many people have questions, but when they get the answers they need, they don't share them with anyone else - they simply stop posting. |

Easy people!!!
Well geez guys.... the information I was trying to find out was for someone else and I find it amusing the whole "funny how people stop posting" after they find out things... Post-call surgery rotations keep me off the computer so no need to get testy!
I basically am still on the same page as you. I have advised my friend to goto Aruba earlier than school starts and find a place through real estate. You will not get any real help from the school in this department. The worst thing you can do is show up when school starts and look, it really will be tough to attend classes and look at the same time. I saw this info in another thread, i assume its for the Aruba campus: Hey guys just want to let incoming student know that there are available and affordable apartments ready for renting. The place is nice and safe. The place is intended for students only so if anyone is interested pls feel free to contact: Luis Betancount: Kdtazzy@hotmail.com (coordinator) Debora Rodriquiz cocolight666-@hotmail.com (Owner/Manager) Phone #1 (297) 593-1878 Phone #2 (297) 593-1898 G luck! |

i'm also looking for accommodations.
so far i've received 3 listings from the school's coordinators, but i'm not completely satisfied with any of them yet. i'm looking to share to cut costs, so if anyone is interested let me know. i'm a very easy going, laid back, mature, single male incoming Jan. 08. thanks! |
