IS XUSOM not approved for residency and more than 12 weeks of clerkships in New York .....or not approved for licensure?

Most non-approved schools just cannot perform more than 12 weeks of rotations in NY and residency in NY, however, they can receive a license after doing residency in another state. I was hoping this could be clarified.

Many thanks

Question

What I want to know is this? With all the changes at Xavier, I was browsing their ever changing websites. In the actually application, they are checking credit of incoming students and that weighs into the acceptance decision. I don't know but I thought that was strange. I mean, if someone has less than perfect credit, with a co-signer they can still obtain a loan. Checking for a criminal background is understandable....but credit history??

So I assume that you can have a residency and licensing opportunity in Georgia. This is where I would like to practice initially anyway, it’s my home.

An applicant's credit has NO effect on being accepted or denied entrance into Xavier. Wether a student can pay or not means nothing in reagrds to their classes and references. The credit section is strictly for those who require a payment plan instead of the financial aid programs. And even further, I do not believe that we have ever used this section without speaking directly with the student.

Transfer Question on NY Licensure.

Hi, I am interested in transferring; however, I had a few questions. I read on the forum that Xavier does not have licensure with NY state. I am interested to practice only in NY. I dont mind doing my rotations for two years elsewhere but I want to have the option to work in NY and do my residency there. So, with this in mind, is Xavier working on getting licensed with NY State...and if so, when will that get approved by? Because I want to transfer, but I would rather wait till the licensing occurs so I wanted to know an estimated time by which it will be taken care of. Thank you for your time.

Why is it that the Florida Board of Medicine states that this is not true, and that you are eligible for licensure? They said that for Florida, you must pass your boards, obtain a residency and complete 2+ years of post grad training before applying for licensure. Being listed in the WHO is the other requirement. Are you talking about doing rotations in FLorida, because that does require approval?

I concur, what you are saying about Florida approval is true for clerkships; nothing to do with residency or obtaining a medical license there.

Post Who

On which website are you referring that information is current? From your question, I do know the following:
I know that WHO's list of schools has been obsolete and/or down because of the updates that are being implemented (Xavier Aruba is included in this list.)
Xavier Aruba's website should be current; if you see something that is not please feel free to let me know.
If you are talking about Xavier Bonaire or their website, I suggest you contact them first.

I do understand that this information can be confusing, but if there was no school-state application for Florida, how was St. Matthews declined Approval almost a couple years ago? Please understand that there are many level of information in regards to this kind of information. Xavier works very hard to stay current on all state requirements.
