There has been a reshuffling of the Xavier central administration due to some adjustments in the ownership mix. Some of the old crowd are gone, some are new, some have been given different responsibilities.

Just as with a country's new president, there is "honeymoon period" during which the press and the critics lay low until the new regime shows its true colors. We should do the same at Xavier. Now's the time to flood the stateside crowd with emails with constructive suggestions on how to improve the school. We heard at orientation this past Monday that they can talk the talk; time will tell whether they can walk the walk.

Changes are inevitable, some of which will be experimental and cause a few bumps (bumps always seem to affect the students, not the faculty), so get ready for a rough ride. I'm optimistic -- for the time being. We should give the new administration a chance to get settled and begin implementing the much-touted changes.

Then we'll get them
