Thread: Horror at jnf airport-new students beware!!!!

I would like to share my horror at JNF International airport on arrival last semester, just so no one else goes thru the same.

After a 9 hr flight, I arrived expecting a WINDSOR SCHOOL OFFICIAL at the airport to receive me, show me housing e.t.c. To my shock and dismay, no windsor school official was at the airport, despite e-mailing them my Itinary 5 times.

I stood waiting for 4 hours, with several pieces of luggage, tried calling the school, but no answer[ No one at the school on a Sunday]. The school doesn't provide new students with an emergency contact incase there is no one at the airport.
The guys responsible for receiving new students/assigning housing had taken a day off/ dosed off,..who knows!!!.

A sympathizer contacted one of the school bus drivers, but the drivers were clueless, as they are not responsible for assigning housing.

Long story short, Come prepared to find NO ONE at the airport; Carry some cash for a cab/hotel (2-3 days) incase no one shows up.

Also, the assignment of housing is really messed up, they drive all the students/parents from place to place, crappy ones first, with all their luggage, and it's a total disaster, especially if you have tonnes of buggage, and are burn't out from a long flight.

I'm a girl.. coming without my parents.. and i'm landing at 3pm on the island.. so i should expect to wait there for atleast 6 hours.. and then be dragged around to different housing locations.. even though all i want is Royal St. Kitts.. should I talk to Royal St. Kitts directly and book a room in advance, because according to windsor I can't book in advance...

Are you by chance taking AA from Miami? Because we'll be stuck waiting there for hours together then.

lol.. no I would be more than happy to have company... but I'm not going through Miami.. I'm coming from LAX to Puerto rico.. and then From puerto rico to St. Kitts..

Ha excellent. Well either way we'll be partaking in the waiting for the bus drive together. An I'm actually staying in Royal as well. It's funny though, I reserved a room in Royal when I went to visit the campus.

REally.. do you think I could do that over the phone with them.. or do I have to be there in person..? The last thing I want is that I go there assuming there will be enough rooms to around.. only to find out I have to stay at limekiln.. what day are you landing by the way?

Oh geez I just assumed you were landing the same day as me. I'm coming in thursday the 7th. I wasn't sure if the guy in accounting just appeased me by putting my name down on a list, but I paid the semester and the housing in full ahead of time and kept detailed records of payment. Plus I have my dad coming with me so I know he'll throw in a few words if need be.

I'm landing the same day. See you were smart then.. I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to get a room there, but will sure try to. If not.. I guess I'm stuck at limekiln...

Also, does anyone know how much tax they will charge me if I'm bringing a rice cooker, toaster, and iron...? It's all brand new and packed in their original boxes (probably not a good idea..) I got all 3 for a total of $30... so I'm guessing tax shouldn't be too much hopefully
