Question Loan Options For Canadian Students

I read a lot of info about the Line Of Credit for student and other options which are already available for other Caribbean Med school... but I could not found any good info about Loans options available for Canadian student going to Windsor University School of Medicine ..... I just have a request to all the Canadians who are already in WUSM to please give us advice about how they resolve the issue about the loan and what are the options available for WUSM and which one they think is best and why... I should point this that this topic has been discussed in detail in other Caribbean universities sections but we are not sharing our experiences openly ..... so its my request to our seniors to come up and guide us and tell us what are the things we should look for when going for a loan. Thank you

I am disappointed with all the helping and sharing experience hype I heard from this forum ..... so far everyone is interested in getting to know WHAT TO BRING , WHERE TO LIVE , WHAT IS THE GOOD CELL PHONE COMPANY TO GO WITH or even WHAT EXTRA BOOK AND WHAT IS THE BEST FLIGHT TO GET TO COME ..... I agree all these issues are important too but there are many of us, who cannot do all this with out any help of funding or loans and for that we need to know the past experiences and solutions from all you seniors ...... remember this University can only grow if you guys will put the helping hand to the new people and as well give us the lesson and thinking of helping and guiding each other.... Thank you

OSAP is available for students from ontario. i believe there are other assistance programs available for students from Alberta and British Columbia also. Similar to OSAP.

    Hello windsorMD,

I called OSAP office last week and this is what they told me "We used to offer OSAP to the student of this university but from sept 2008 we will stop all the OSAP loans to the students of this university for the additional 2 years and then we will re-evaluate and you will find out" I guess you can call and ask and make sure what ever I am saying is right or wrong .

Forgot to add this and I conformed it again..... I called OSAP again just to get something in writing and they told me that they will continue funding for the students who are already getting the OSAP since last year BUT THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY OSAP TO NEW STUDENTS OF THIS UNIVERSITY because OSAP took this university out of the approval list.... and questioning my credibility please call this #s and find out in 2 mins if any one wants 1-807-343-7260 or 416-325-0446 ..... the whole point of my discussion is that there should be other ways to get loans and funding for new people ..... plus WUSM should take the OSAP funding is available for students advertisment out from the website to make sure we get the right kind of info.... I know most of you will say DUDE THIS UNIVERSITY IS STILL IN THE PROCESSS OF GROWING but my fellows it will not grow if we won't give it proper guide line to new students.... so if any of you have any info about how to update of where to go to get the update done please feel free to adress that too.... I dont think so there can be a simple answer that OH PAY THE FEE BY YOURSELF ......

One more thing ....... The only good bank I found out in Ontario Canada is so far RBC who have a very unique structure for their LOC for Professional Students ... all other banks will ask for the co-signer but in other words they will say the ASSERTS and EVERYTHING owned by a co-signer is under concideration, in other words if you screwed up you co-signer will lose his house or any property or assert they have..... in this case other than your parents will hasitate to be your co-signer ..... plus if you have siblings who want to study as a professional too later on ... it will affect there loan too .... so you get good info here but nobody discuss it in detail....
