For your rental needs, check out craigslist. If you're doing more than 18 weeks of rotations, perhaps long term housing with or without roommate may suit your need. However, if you're doing just IM and Peds, you may want to consider short-term/sublet/roommate. I mention this because Hyde Park seems to have reasonable number of rental units (sublet/short-term/roommate) and it's relatively safe, and close to public transportation. Hyde Park also has long term rental units. Other areas you may want to consider are: Lincoln Park, University Village. Another option for short-term rental is extended stay hotel located near Midway Airport. Inquire about long term rentals. Inform the hotel management that you're a student and seeking short term rental, you may receive discount.

Chicago has extensive network of public transportation and you may not need a car but it's definitely a welcomed convenience that some of us can't seem to live without. Without a car, you can sign up for car share program for your weekly grocery shopping duties. However, you may lose interest in this idea during cold, windy winter.

Carefully read your rental agreements. Some apartments are requiring move-in fee in lieu of security deposit. And others require first and last month initial payment to move in. There are pros and cons but be sure to read, and understand your initial cost. Good luck and enjoy Chicago.

Thanks so much for the info I am going to check it out immediately, hopefully one of these areas will be in close proximity to both rotations. Thanks again for everyone’s help.
