I think that approaching a rural hospital that I already had a relationship with helped me alot. Most of the Docs on the board have known me for 17 years. They feel sure I will come back. If you have nothing else to loose, why not try it?

Info about the island
For those of you starting in May 2008:
If you have not been there yet, do not have high expectations of the island. The beaches are beautiful but the island is somewhat poor. I was there last week visiting friend who started preMD in Jan. Most people who live there do not have the same customer service attitude as they do in Canada/USA. I found them sometimes rude and if you want something done promptly, it won't happen. The live on 'Caribbean time' mentality so they have a relaxed attitude and getting something such as internet will take a couple of weeks. My friends live on residence, they take a 10-15 min bus ride to school everyday. Be sure to take up all kitchen necessities; pots, utensils, plates etc, also hangers. Food is expensive. The place my friends live is fairly nice, large size bedroom, double beds. You do NOT need to purchase special outlet adapters. Do not expect an exciting night life. The island has one main hotel, the Marriott, and a strip of small bars along one of the beaches. I liked the island very much but for those of you with high expectations will be disappointed. |

Hello Value MD,
I'm a long time lurker and first time poster. I just wanted to say thank you to all the people on the Windsor forum and others who have helped with information and advice to make decisions easier for us newbies. It has been invaluable. I will see you in May 2008. |

I heard the start date was moved to May 13.
When do you all plan to arrive? WindsorMD, From looking at the daily schedule it looks like there won't be much time for extra curricular activities such as night life anyway. 8 to 4 med classes Monday thru Friday...4:30 to 6:00 USMLE mandatory review classes Monday thru Thursday...and an exam in every class every Monday leaves the weekend for study... |

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me where and what hospitals do US students do their rotations at? Also, is it recommended for students from US to stay on campus? How does the whole process work? THanks so much for your help. |
