This might be true for New York, but the states I have checked do not require it, and also same for Ontario, so its all good. Also, the requirements might be different for IMG's and that is not clear whether the 60 credits is for IMG's or US/Candians' . Going from high school to medical school does not exist only in few uncommon places, there are tons of students doing it (even in the US) and are having no problems at getting residency, so I'm not going to be considering this.

2. Your reply which I quoted spoke of your "research" into "residency" prereqs., not licensure. These were your words.
3. I wondered, reasonably enough, if you were aware of how licensure regulations can be tougher than those for residency.
4. In case you didn't know the above I used that thread as an example to illustrate how the criteria can differ.
5. I made it clear that this example was specifically about another set of prereqs.
   but had illustrative value nevertheless.

You know whats best, if you want to come straight from high school, do it...don't cry, don't complain for not saying you were warned. Its simple, you can come straight from high school, get a license in one of a small handful of states and happily work...but god forbid your spouse or for other economic reasons you have to move to another state, they check you you don't have the requirements and are unable to practice unless you go back to uni for some credits...

Now your thinking...oh thats no problem...I will go back to uni if I have to make up missing credits AFTER I become a doctor...yea...thats the master plan that never works...

Also, for you ladies and gents that have ideas of coming back to Ontario, not trying to burst your bubble, but its VERY hard to come back to Canada to practice...not saying impossible...but VERY hard...

Point is, don't limit yourself by coming straight from high school with dreams of being a physician by the age of 22 when down the road another year or two of uni could have been beneficial

The school isnt trying to lie to you, you CAN get a job, but dont be picky about the state down the road, nor the pay connected to your job in the state you really didnt have a choice on choosing.

So many people in Premed keep saying how they want to practice in NYC, or other big states when they fail to realize that just showing your MD degree isnt enough to work..you need undergrad credits from undergrad.

In the end, do your own research.

Are you dense? What's the point of a residency if you can't get licensure; what's the point of licensure if you can't get residency? The two are intrinsically linked, so it is not a completely different topic.

You know what, I think you should go to the Carib for pre-med.
