TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!

If that does not work take it up with Dr.Sun explain to him what is going on with the class and the prof. I guarantee you that he will take care of the issue for you.

As far as Dr.P ,I have spoken to him before and he is a smart guy. He has a PhD in Physio and is doing research in FL. He knows what he is talking about, if your class would let him speak.

And never ever count on power points. Read the book always. The BRS is great for Physio.
It's a great review book. once you master physiology very well.

Smile always in a rush....

L.Costanzo writes the BRS and the PHYSIOLOGY by Saunders. I have used both and I recommend both.

What may work for you may not work for others.

Wink Take A Deep Breathe...

MD4Life,
I am sorry if i come off as some sort of Tsoas priest but you need perspective.
I know that the frustrations you feel are a little overwhelming, but just remember why you came to medical school...prepare for the USMLE (or the boards of your choice) and a career in medicine. so just prepare. if you study the chapters in the text, the information is there, don't limit yourself from lectures.
the hardest test you take at WUMS is still not as difficult as the USMLE, if for no other reason than the amount of time needed.
If there are questions on your exam that are not covered in lecture it is because the professor did not, for various reasons, have the time to cover. you are still responsible.
the medical profession is one where your patience and character will be tested over and over again. adversity and how one deals with it, does not build character, reveals it.
hang tough and never be silent. if you feel there is impropriety or behavior that is less than what should be expected for a medical student then please speak up. you are also training to be an advocate for your patients and a little practice goes along way.
last comment. when you start clinicals or residency, positive outlook, then you will be criticized, belittled and crushed (i've been on both ends) you need to develop thick skin and plough ahead...i only say this because what you are experiencing now will only help with all the rest.
The only regret I have about WUMS is that there are alot of people who needed to do a little more maturing before they started this journey.
Good Luck, study hard and keep your eye on the apple.

whay dont you change your class or is this the only one in your level?
when you say MD1 do you mean sem 1? physiology 1 is there a 2nd physiology?

i will be starting in sep in sem 3, no offence but hope i wont be in your circus.

try to think of the end result.

Thanks for the advice

pac2md thanks for your comments and advice. I really appreciate it. You are right, I need to look at this with a different perspective. Thanks for replying to the posts and providing feedback based on your experience in the real world. Many of us have not experienced anything, but working minimum wage jobs.

MD1 means semester one

Unfortunately, next semesters incoming class will be the largest in Windsor history, so I think it will be a bigger circus. Unless, they are admitting mature students that have either had few years of undergrad or completed their undergrad. Students at this school are too young and they create chaos. There are a few exemplary students who are very mature.

You cannot change classes. There is only semester 1/ MD 1 physiology class. My class has 84 students. 70 are part of my first semester class. The other 14 previously failed the course.

Sina, since you will be in semester 3 you should be fine. I do not think they have problems with behavior. But there is always those one or two students.

Semester 3 has really good teachers. I think you will enjoy it here. Good luck!

Physio I

To all you students in MD1--I have read all the posts and can offer the following advice. I too am in this class. As the moderater stated, people need to take responsibility, for themselves and for the class if they want it to get any better. Unfortunately, I am not as young as most of you in Physio I, and thus any thing I may say, will probably be construed as coming from "an old bag".

It is extremely annoying to listen to everyone chatter while Dr. P attempts to teach. However, it all boils down to one simple thing---RESPECT. The students have no respect for Dr. P, and that is most unfortunate--as up and coming doctors--their lack of respect is totally appauling.

As for studying---IF you understand the concept as a whole, it does not matter what questions are asked of you, you will be able to ascertain the correct answer. Dont study to memorize, study to understand all of the concepts being taught. Med school is NOT a walk in the park--not here, not in Canada and not in the US. Hours of reading are required on a daily basis if you are to succeed.

In closing---those of us who are annoyed with the conduct of the students in the class, need to be able to turn around and tell them to SHUT UP or GET OUT.

Hello MD4life

hello MDforlife...u r making urself seem like such a hardworking person and saying u studied alot but messed up on ur physio test..and jus cuz u messed up on tht test..u r blaming Dr. P for it...thts not rite..im a student in ur class aswell and i no many students including myself who did not do bad on the test cuz we paid attention to dr. p's lectures. His test was knowing ur information and applying it...not jus reading and memorizing..and if u r having problems with a test like tht thn i dunt even think u should be in med skool..cuz usmle will be soo much harder thn this test....dr. p is a good prof...he maybe very nice and thts the reason why ppl like u r stepping all over him and blaming him for things u r responsible for. I no dr. p and i no how hard hes working to help us pass physio becuase he doesnt want any of us to go thru wut last semester students went thru. outta about 85 students...if only 2 or 3 ppl r having problems with him...shows whose rite and whose rong...next time if u do bad on a test...look at urself b4 blaming others

dear Doctorette008

The remarks you made seemed to be a little harsh and unwarranted. This is a person who you may want or need as an ally and hopefully be alumnis of the same Alma Mater.
If you had read the other posts MD4life is expressing concerns that your fellow classmates, at least some, seem to share.
I am not in your class nor do I have an opinion on Dr. P, other than the word around campus is he is a very intelligent individual, but your class doesn't have the best of reputations, again all hearsay.
I would put forth to you that when a person wants to express an idea, concern or thought, they should do so non-phonetically and spell properly, has it is difficult to take someone seriously who doesn't even bother express their opinions concisely.
You do make valid points but they seem to be mean spirited, maybe because they are defensive and I misinterpret. I would also ask that you validate your peers thoughts then address your differences as you would be less likely to offend.
seriously though good luck with your studies and I hope this didn't offend.

The students are all to blame..the ones that make chatter and noise get away with it because none of the other students complain past DrP...has anyone talked to Dr.S?? The prof might laugh or whatever during the lecture, but the book does not do anything when you read it, nor do the slides...I understand the maturity of the class isnt there and there needs to be some sort of restraint but on that MD1 class...honestly speaking, they are making the school as a whole look more and more retarded with the way they come into class and yap in every corner of the school when its time to study...this isnt highschool nor is it a mall hangout when in the library...they only time its sane /quiet is when MD1's have an internal...hopefully those come more often so others who are in the upper semesters can actually get readings done or go to their class without hearing about how bad the behavior of that batch is from the professor.
