Rotations experience

Even though I have a long ways to go, can any 6th-10th semester students share at what clinical sites they had an excellent experience at? Any advice for students still on the island. What clinical rotations areas are in nice areas to live. Because I am guessing some of these hospitals are inner city hospitals.

Setting your own Rotation in Texas

*UT-Houston: Contact Jamie Munsinger at 713-500-5167 or Jamie.d.munsinger@uth.tmc.edu

The following is the web address for the elective catalog and downloadable application with instructions and requirements:
2007-2008 Fourth Year Elective Catalog - The University of Texas Medical School at Houston

*Baylor College of Medicine: Contact Donna Moore at 713-798-3370 or donnak@bcm.tmc.edu

Baylor does not take Caribbean students but if you are very nice to Ms. Moore and find sponsors in the departments that you would like to attend then you can rotate through. Dept. of Anesthesia and Dept. of Neurology are two departments that are willing to let you rotate if you provide a CV that is impressive. Your grades and scores and undergraduate work count at Baylor when they evaluate you since they are a top 10 medical school.

*UT-Southwestern: Go to the following link and follow all of the instructions as given on the web page to submit an application:

Visiting Student Instructions

Good Hope Hospital

We have rotations in the U.K. now! The name of the hospital is Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham. However this is not the most economical route to doing clinicals due to the value of the pound vs the dollar. Here is a link to the web page.

Greenbook

So in summary, WSOM has greenbook CORE rotations in FP, IM, and Ob/Gyn through various hospitals but are missing Peds and Surgery?

For Green Electives WSOM has Anesthesiology,
Ophthalmology, Pediatric Anesthesiology (AN), Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine (IM), Rheumatology (IM) through AFFLIATED programs at Micheal Reese. WSOM also has Otolaryngology through DePaul Medical Center.

Anesthesia, Optho, peds anesthesia, rheumatology are not available through Michael Reese. Btw, the way Michael Reese IM Program is closing at the end of the academic year and all their residents have already or are finding spots at other programs for july. MRH pulled out of the match this year.

Micheal Reese Hosp

So one IM and CVS Dx rotation will be lost for Windsor (and probably others)? What happened to MRH?
