Does it matter which state you take step 3? I know states have different requirements for taking step 3? Does it have to be in one's home state? Does it matter where you take it (help getting residency or licensure)?

510 points It does not matter. You can do residency in one state, register for Step 3 in a second state, write the test in a third state.
Register with Connecticut. It's quick and it does not require any post-graduate training.
