Can I hide failed step 3 attempts from program?

I'm desperate. I am PGY-3 in path and failed my 3rd attempt in step 3. I know I can't apply for license in this state because only 3 attempt allowed. However, if i could hide the failed step 3 I would apply license from another state (like NY) to sit in my specialty board to graduate. I am afraid that my program will terminate my residency immediately and I won't be able to finish it. Can I hide my failed attempts and just give them the passed report (I'm going to take it very, very seriously this time)? It seems the only way the program get the USMLE scores is through ERAS, but now they only need a copy of passed report. Is this true?

    Thanks for your input!!!!

    Pls help!!!!!!!!!

absolutely not. I believe you have to list the dates when each licensing exams were taken and the number of attempts. Lying is taken VERY seriously, and once you obtain your license/board, they can be revoke if they find out you lie on your application. It's best to trying to pass the exam and go from there.

    Step 2CK: > 265
    Step 3: > 245 (with 1 week of preparation)

I find it odd that it took you 3 failed attempts to finally take the test "very, very seriously"....should have happened after failed attempt #1.

no you can't....your usmle score report will have all your attempts, so even if you do somehow succeed in lying and getting through your residency program, they will eventually need the report itself for licensure....then it will all come out and ...lying...lying is by far greater sin...and you could lose EVERYTHING...a state revokes your license or even just refuses you application and you will have to report it everything you apply for a license, credentials, etc...

sure you may never actually practice clinical medicine, you still need to jump the hoops...

if passing step III isn't part of the requirements for promotion, then they can't do anything to you, but you may want to talk to someone in the program to see if you can get help to pass it (elective for a review course, time to study, etc)...
