How important is it to finish all 3 steps in 7 years. Are they very strict about the 7 years. Does it have to be within 7 years or it could be 7 years give and take a few months?

if past 7 years, will need to request in writing to the state medical boards. if it is valid reason, they should grant it.

what is the time line for this 7 years.. starting from the day you write step1 up to step3 test date? basically, jus wondering if it covers basic science. The reason im asking is that after step1, im thinking about going into research for some time before hitting clinicals. thnx in advance.
