Step2 CK Experience
Hi everyone!
I took my USMLE Step2 CK yesterday. As with Step1, I have absolutely no idea how the exam went, I'm just glad that it's finally over.
The only problem I faced during the exam was the length of the questions. Some of the questions were annoyingly long and full of distractors. It took me some time to learn how to pace myself during the exam. I ended up missing out on 2-3 questions in the 1st 3 blocks, but after that I think I was able to manage my time reasonably well.
The exam was difficult but not impossible, most of the questions were really thought provoking. I personally think that the exam was more about the knowledge that I had acquired over 5 years of medschool than the cramming I had done in the past 2 months. So they basically test you on your concepts, interpretation of clinical situations and judgement, not on things you just acquire over a period of a few weeks. So overall I thought it was a very well balanced exam.
Medicine was the predominant subject that I was tested on, but I never felt bomabarded by loads of medicine questions, it was a good mix of other subjects in between so you don't feel too burdened by all the medicine they ask you.
It would be a good idea to have a look at the normal labs before the exm, that might save you some time too. There were a lot of images in each block, most were really good and helpful in understanding the underlying pathology. Lots of derma slides. Bisostats was easy and very basic, the medical ethic questions were as mind boggling as ever.
I hope what I have written here will help you all in your preperation for the exam.
