    Just took NBME 2 & scored = 380 (~186)

As I asked yall in my earlier post about going ahead with the real exam? Is it doable with this NBME score. Also, the Kaplan qbank score cumulative average is 52% which translates into a 191 on their estimator. I would appreciate any sincere advice.

If I were you, I'd spend a few weeks studying only what the NBME results found you deficient in - and then take the test.

    Sree....

I want to extend the date as you are saying but wont I be really late for the 2009 match? I have delayed my application by 3 months already. If you have any suggestions or opinions please let me know because may be I am putting myself at risk by doing this.

Sorry to intrude in your thread SGUdroncall but where did you find the score estimator? I totally understand what you mean by being too late. I have CK on thurs and feel that I'm already too late since I haven't received any interviews yet But you have to stay positive! Maybe ask your dean for some info. My school informed me your still safe as long as the result is in your hand by Dec 15th.... don't know if that really is true though (esp for IMG's).
I took NBME this week and scored a 470 =210 and my UW avg is 69%.... I"m still scared so I really understand what you mean!!

    Hey Step1sucks

Believe me you are fine! I am retesting for this exam and on top of that I am late. You just need to pass and take it from there. You can go for a prematch even. I would not be worried if I ever were you. Thanks for the encouragement.

    Good luck!

Forget Kaplan qbank. Just took the Step 2 CK, and the level of difficulty is a mirror image of UW.

    Hey

Hey man i was in your shoes bro, a week before my exam i scored a 190 on NBME 2, timed and all that. I was weak, i pushed my exam back a wk cos i knew i had to have it by the end of Oct. So i read the thread here talking about the new kaplan q bank, i bought it and did it for 2 wks straight, and went and took my exam. I did NBME 1 a wk before the actual test got a 221, and i got my score today and i got 230/93, dunno how my 230 was a 93 but i will take it. All am saying is not to be discouraged, u just have to take the exam. Why i say this is because i on my score grid i had my peds and dev questions all the way to the left with an asterix meaning i prob was the worst in the nation. I still got a 93, so alot of it has to do with luck man. NBME's i think just boosts your confidence cos i dont think its anything like the real exam. You can flunk the exam and still crush the exam.

    Seminole...

How were you doing on the Kaplan Qbank though? I am averaging 51% after fininshing 60% of the qs. Still I think I will take a few more days to prep and then go for it.

    Thanks for the advice though.

    well

I was doing the new qbank timed and random cos i was trying to get as much of it done in like a week and half, i got a 60% average their score predictor said it was gonna be the same as 212. The 60% was an average meaning i bombed some and i did well on some, it was a range from 40%'s to sometimes i mess around and luck out with a 70% sometimes. The new kap q bank is legit and challenging, helps build time management and stamina cos its frustrating to do. Goodluck to you bro, Its tough but my bet is you will get over and 80% if you are doing 50's on the q bank. I wouldnt worry about the NBME too much, cos the real exam has 4 extra blocks of stuff.

Don't rely on your qbank score for anything. The questions are good practice but there isnt enough data to compare your performance against others. Their overall performance score is nonsense. Its based on a handful of questions, most of them the easier questions.Their score estimator is also useless. If they have no performance data on 90% of their questions how can they tell you how you should score on the real exam relative to their questions? Use it like any other study tool and try to learn as much as possible from them.Usmleworld has better questions and data for comparison...and of course the nbme is the best predictor.
Well, he's had it in for me ever since I "kinda" ran over his dog. Actually, replace "kinda" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."
