Thread: MY USMLE STEP 2 Experience

Prep Time: 1 month
Step 1: 233/94
Resources: USMLE World 75% complete, 66% overall (none were repeated)
Took STEP 2 today: 9/22/08
Thoughts
Wow...wowowowowowo.....That is one big bad test..Don't let people tell you it's easy...oh boy was it harder than step 1 by a landslide.
10% Qs were gimmies
then the rest...i dunno...honestly, I ran out of time on every block..except the 1st, forcing me to guess on the last 2-3 Qs . Videos SUCK (1 was 2 min long!! I just guessed cuz I dont have time to sit there for that crap!)
Good spread of topics, maybe 10 epi Qs..
Majority of test was Well spread on topics, IM>OB=GYN>PEDS=TRUAMA=Preventative>rest..?
If I were to study again..I think I wouldve read FA for 2 weeks and did Qs for 2 weeks...
I guess you just gotta start preparing thoughout your clinicals...or right after step 1...
I can't even describe the test....that's how hard it was..

Wow.... very scary post! LOL. well I hope that you did well! Good Luck! It's over with now.... you should def relax and wait for these 3 wks to go by. Congrats on being done though
Question for you though: I totally forgot that video's are on step 2 as well. As far as audio clips go I assume they're mostly heart sounds etc but could you give me an example of things that video's could ask? (you can just give some eg's)

Qs are not vauge...they are full of info..too much info that it takes 2 min to read the Question! And you have to reread it cuz you forgot what the 3rd sentence said!
In my opnion, they really should shorten the length of the question or decrease the amount of questions per block b/c it's a very demanding test as it is. To make questions ridiculously long hurts more people than helps. Videos were of like Physical exam of person/child. and you had to made out if there were any abnormalities. Do the practice released USMLE Qs, it's very similar to that. Yea..gotta know heart murmurs too..
