239/99

I'm a student at a foreign medical school and I just got my Step 2 scores back recently. I scored a 239/99, which I suppose is pretty good, although I'm not really sure. What does this mean? How much will it help me?

As people on this forum seem to like reading about study strategies, I'll add mine: I used UsmleWorld exclusively. I went through the whole q-bank about three times

1st time: 10-question sets with lots of note-taking
2nd time: 46-question sets with a lot of reading of the explanations
3rd time: 46-question sets to get the timing approximately right

The exam actually seemed more difficult than UW, although by the third time, I had essentially memorized the answers to lots of questions.

So, if anyone is interested in sharing their knowledge about this type of score, I'm interested, because I took the exam in a sort of vacuum where no one talks about or knows anything about the exam and the evaluation of scores..

Thanks..

Thank you, although I still don't really know what the significance of my score is.

I didn't take the NBME tests, just lots of UW.

A few more questions...

I noticed that your study plan looks very similar to what I was planning.
1. Which school are (or were) you at and did you study during rotations/class? Or did you have time off?
2. Do you mind sharing what you got on Step I?
3. How many hours a day did you devote to studying or was it a weekend thing?

Thanks, hopefully you get this, apparently I have to post 5 times before being considered non-threatening to send a PM?

I have Kaplan notes that are from 2006. Are these notes ok to study from or should I get new ones? Is the first aid helpful at all?
Thanks.
