question about taking step 2
Im an FMG from the caribbean, I just took step 2 and got a 242/99. I was wondering If I have to take step 2 before I apply for residencies. The reason I ask is just because Id rather not take the risk of not doing as well on step 2 and ruining my chances of good residencies. Im of course going to take them, but as late as possible. Do you all have any advice?

do you mean you took step 1 and got 242/99? anyway, i think for US students, it's different. i would say not to take step 2 just yet if you were as US med student. but having the exams out of the way will land you more interviews as an IMG, especially if you finish off all 3 exams before sept 1st. just in time to send off to ERAS. maybe some programs wouldn't care, they see the high step 1 and have no doubts you'll pass step 2, but it does put programs at ease when they have all scores in for IMGs.

You dont have to
but as an FMG its advisable to do so, besides why are you scared? scores almost always go up from the step 1 score
